- Cleavage: (001) indistinct, (010) indistinct and (100) indistinct
- Fracture: Subconchoidal.
- Tenacity: Brittle.
- Hardness = 5{5.5 D(meas.) = 2.24{2.29 D(calc.) = 2.271
- Electrostatic: Weakly piezoelectric; weakly electrostatic when rubbed or heated.
- Habit: Euhedral Crystals - Occurs as well-formed crystals showing good external form.
- Specific Gravity is approximately 3.2 (average)
- Associated Minerals are quartz, calcite, serandite, apophyllite, natrolite, stilbite, heulandite and other zeolites.
- Best Field Indicators are crystal habit, density, low hardness, luster and associations.

- Color: Transparent to translucent. - White, colorless, gray, pink, greenish, yellowish

- In thin section (PPL): colorless.
- Twinning: Polysynthetic on f001g, f110g.
- Luster: Vitreous.

- Optical Class: Isotropic; anomalously biaxial (-).
- Index of Refraction = 1.479 - 1.493
- V(meas.) = 0 - 85 degrees
